The 20-minute family money meeting

A short monthly check-in that keeps the budget working.

4 min read

A regular, short money meeting stops surprises and arguments. With older kids, part of it can include them.

Agenda

  1. Last month: what did we spend compared with the plan?
  2. Upcoming: birthdays, school costs, car repairs, trips
  3. Goals: how are savings goals doing?
  4. One change for next month
  5. Kids' part (optional): their savings goals and one money lesson

Make it easy

  • Same day each month, about 20 minutes
  • Keep it calm and practical; save bigger conversations for another time
  • End with something nice: plan a free family activity
